In the Republic of Serbia, chemial legislation is harmonized with relevant legislation of the EU. However, for the effective imlementation of chemical management policy it is important to develope the knowledge and capacities of relevant industry sectors and other stakeholder such as NGOs, associations, authorities, academia etc. There is a need to raise the awarness of industry and the general public on possible impacts of hazardous chemicals as well as on global and EU trends and practices in sound chemicals management.
At EU level, there are tools aimed at encouraging and supporting industry to speed up the transition to safer alternatives. In Serbia such tools are not available and many relevant stakeholders are not aware of these tools. The fact that they are not available in the Serbian language represents a significant obstacle for the use by Serbian industry and other stakeholders.
The project “Serbia Substitutes” makes important results of the SUBSPORT and SIN List project available in Serbia and raises the awarness and knowledge of Serbian industry for substituting hazardous chemicals with safer alternatives.
Selected content of the SUBSPORT website is made available in Serbian. The Serbian language version of the SUBSPORT website is implemented on the separate subdomain rs.subsport.eu due to technical reasons. The Serbian version of the SIN List database can be accessed here.
Serbian translations of case stories from enterprises and literature with descriptions of alternative substances and technologie can be found in the Case Story Database.
Following the SUBSPORT concept for the Alternatives Identification and Assessment Training including elements on the SIN List two training session are provided on 20 and 21 May for Serbian industry and on 25 June for NGO representatives.
Project results are disseminated via a media event and information materials. The SUBSPORT folder in Serbian can be downloaded here.
