Database of substitution case studies – official launch in May 2012, first publication soon
As SUBSPORT is an ongoing project the database of substitution case studies is currently under development. The first case study descriptions will be available soon. The official launch of the database will take place in May 2012. Case study information
The SUBSPORT case study database will provide detailed descriptions of substitution cases for 10 priority substances in various essential applications along with examples of substitution for many other substances, for which more general information will be given. Background documents supporting the process of substitution will also be presented.
List of 10 priority substances
The substances and substance groups listed below will be in the focus of the search for alternatives.
- chloroalkanes
- chromium VI and compounds (alkaline chromates, dichromates, chromium trioxide)
- bisphenol A
- dialkylphthalates
- lead and its inorganic compounds
- octylphenol, nonylphenol and ethoxylates
- trichloroethylene, tetrachloroethylene
- formaldehyde
- brominated flame retardants: hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD), tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA), decabromodiphenylether (Deca BDE), pentabromodiphenylether (PBDE)
- parabens (methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben)

In case you are experienced in substitution and willing to let others benefit from your expertise, your knowledge and achievements may be included into the SUBSPORT database. We would kindly like to ask you to provide us with substitution information and would be glad to discuss them in a phone or a personal conversation and collaborate in writing the case study. Substitution cases may be related to the priority group or to any other hazardous substance.
